PROGRAMME FOR STRENGTH

With squats, bench and deadlifts we do the following programme:
2 weeks sets of 10
2 weeks sets of 8
2 weeks sets of 5
2 weeks sets of 3
To start this programme you first workout at 60% of your maximum lifts on each,
thats your starting point.
For the first 4 weeks you go up to a top weight and back down, this is what we call Pyramid Training.
With squats and deadlifts I recommend going up in 10kg jumps, for bench press 2.3-5.0kg jumps
The 2nd set of 4 weeks you go up to your top weight and do 3 sets,in strength training you never drop below 3 reps.
We only do 1 rep on the day of a powerlifting competition.
This programme is suitable for sports like afl, rugby union, rugby league , soccer, rowing, american football,
My background is powerlifting in New Zealand I competed from Light Middle Weight to Light Heavy Weight.

I have 3 first, 3 2nds and 3 3rds to my name.

My personal bests were:

  • squat-225kg's
